| Management |
Though
I do not have a domain
name server, I have
found a reasonably
priced one and use
it to provide the
service of managing
my client's domain
names.
|
| choosing
your domain |
| Keep
it short and memorable.
If your company name
is taken, choose
a domain that describes
your company. Choose ".com" when
possible as this
is people's first
assumption. |
| Public
or private? |
| I
recommend paying the
extra for private registration
if you run your business
from home. If your
company has it's own
separate address and
phone number then save
yourself the extra
fee by using public
registration. The difference
is in the information
that is posted on the
web about your site
in "whois" inquiries.
Private registration
lists only your name
while public registrations
list your name, address,
e-mail and phone number. |
| google
and domains |
| One
last thing is that
Google ranks a site
higher when the domain
registration is for
a longer time, so if
search engine optimization
is important to you,
you may want to buy
5 years of registration
at a time. |
